Here’s a few questions we get asked quite often.

  • As we are a kindergarten, your child can be enrolled from 2.5 years of age.  You’re welcome to come into the centre earlier to fill in the enrolment form or be put on our waiting list and we will make contact with you when your child is old enough to start.

  • Yes.  However, the maximum government funding is for 6 hours per day so you will be charged our hourly fee for the extra 1 hour.

  • Absolutely!  We have regular routines around nappy changing and toileting of children during the day.  When your child is ready to start using the toilet we will support their learning here, as we do in every aspect of kindy life.

  • We make every effort to be responsive to the needs of our Tamariki. Our buildings and playground have been built with accessibility in mind (e.g. wheelchair ramps) and the private carpark allows flexibility for a variety of different vehicles.  Every individual child will have different needs and we would love the opportunity to walk through our environment with you and discuss how we can best support your child.

  • Your child will need to bring their morning tea and lunch.  We encourage you to pack healthy and low waste options for kids.  We provide fruit for afternoon tea. Please also pack a change of clothes (in case they get wet or sandy) and the appropriate quantity of nappies or changes of clothes for where your child is up to with toilet training.

  • We’re happy to cater for special dietary requirements and we take allergies, intolerances and cultural food requirements very seriously.  If your child has particular requirements, we will work with you to develop a personalised plan.

  • We encourage you to come in to Kiddy Winks to get a feel for the environment and the activity that is going on every day.  We encourage the children to learn through play and discovery, supported by a regular routine, based around meal times. We have an amazing outdoor area including a large grassed area where the children can run, play games and challenge themselves physically.  We have a bike track built into our playground and on special occasions we can close off our carpark so the children can ride bikes and scooters in a large, flat area.

We believe our Tamariki are citizens of our community, so we take regular outings with small groups into the community, such as to the library or a local park. We are also very fortunate to have a pet rabbit so children have opportunities to learn about appropriate ways to relate to and care for a pet.
